ASA Extraflex - pre-mixed acrylic based, flexible ceramic tile adhesive- Technical Data Sheet 

DESCRIPTION
Extraflex is a pre-mixed acrylic based, flexible ceramic tile adhesive suitable for most
interior wall and floor* applications. Extraflex is safe to use, non - toxic, easy to spread,
even on vertical surfaces, and because of its initial grab, tiles adhere immediately.
Extrafl ex has a long open time for tile adjustments which makes it convenient for the
tradesman or handyman. Extrafl ex is suitable for use in areas as specifi ed by the
Australian Standard AS3958.1-1991 clauses 3.5.2.1;3.5.2.2;3.5.3.1;3.5.3.2;3.5.4.1;
3.5.4.2;3.5.4.3;3.5.5.1;3.5.5.2.

SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and be free from dust, grease, wax, oil, laitance, curing compounds, paint, friable
material and all other contaminants that are likely to prevent the adhesive bonding. Building boards must be fi xed
in accordance to manufacturer’s printed directions. Cement render must be allowed to cure for 7 days, concrete to
be left with a wood fl oat fi nish and allowed to cure for at least 28 days. Porous or dusty surfaces must be primed
with ASA Multiprime prior to tiling. Smooth steel trowel fi nished concrete must be mechanically abraided to
increase adhesion.
EXPANSION JOINTS
Movement joints should be incorporated in the tile layout in accordance with AS3958.1-1991 clauses 5.4.5.1 to 6.
APPLICATION
Apply the adhesive to the prepared substrate using the appropriate notched trowel for the size of the tile being laid.
Push tiles into the adhesive before it skins over. At least 80% of the adhesive must be in contact with substrate and
tile. Allow at least 24 hours before grouting.
GROUTING
Use the appropriate ASA grout, allowing joint widths of 1.5mm to 6mm for walls as per AS3958.1-1991 clause
5.4.6.
*FLOOR APPLICATION
Extrafl ex is suitable for use over concrete, sand/cement screeds and fi brous cement sheeting. Adhesive drying
time may be signifi cantly delayed, or a full cure may not be achievable under the following circumstances:
Dense or non-porous substrates
Dense or porcelain tile
Colder climates
CLEAN UP
Extrafl ex can be removed from the surface of the tiles using a damp cloth while the adhesive is still wet. Tools and
equipment can be cleaned with warm water and detergent prior to the adhesive drying.
PACKAGING
20 litre,10 litre and 4 litre plastic pails.
COVERAGE
Using a 6mm x 6mm notched trowel, 1 litre will cover approximately 1m² on a true fl at surface.
