screeds-Technical Data Sheet
DESCRIPTION
Megalastic is a specially formulated admixture used in place of water to fortify levelling
screeds, renders and factory prepared cement based adhesives.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
• Improves workability
• Reduces shrinkage
• Increases fl exural and
compressive strengths
• Improves shock, frost and
chemical resistance
• Improves adhesion
• Non-toxic
RECOMMENDED FOR
• Patching compounds
• Renders and mortar beds
• Levelling screeds
• Fortifying cement based adhesives
• Adhesive promoter for diffi cult to bond
substrates
• Use in areas covered by AS3958.1-1991 clauses 3.3.1.1;
3.3.1.2;3.3.2.1;3.3.3.1;3.3.3.2;3.3.3.3;3.3.3.4;3.5.1.1;3.5.2.1;
3.5.4.1.
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and be free from dust, grease, wax, oil, laitance curing compounds and all other
contaminants likely to affect adhesion.
PLACING
Before placing mortar bed, apply to the substrate a slurry coat made from 2 parts Megalastic mixed with 3 parts
cement. Dilute Megalastic with water at a ratio of 1 part Megalastic to 3 parts water and add to a 3:1 sand/cement
mix. Adjust mixture to produce a semi-dry mortar. While slurry is still wet, spread mortar and compact well. Tiling
can either be carried out immediately or when the screed is dry using an appropriate tile adhesive.
ADHESIVE
Megalastic is used instead of water to fortify ASA Fixall when bonding tiles that have low porosity. Approximately
5 litres of Megalastic liquid is required for 20kg of ASA Fixall. This incorporates a degree of elasticity to the
fi xative.
CLEAN UP
Megalastic can be removed from the surface of the tiles using a damp cloth while the adhesive is still wet. Tools
and equipment can be cleaned with warm water and detergent prior to the adhesive drying.
PACKAGING
20 litre, 5 litre and 1 litre plastic jerry cans.
COVERAGE
Screeds: 0.5 litres of diluted Megalastic mixes with 1kg cement and 3kg sand. 40kg of mixed materials covers
1m² at 25mm thick. Additive: 5 litres Megalastic liquid mixes with 20kg ASA Fixall.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
This product is non-toxic and has no known harmful effects. It is advisable to wear gloves and use good occupational
health and safety practices to avoid personal contact. For more detailed information refer to product MSDS.
SHELF LIFE
Unopened containers can be stored for up to 12 months in a cool, dry, and weatherproof environment.
LIMITATIONS
Only recommended for use over concrete, cement render, blockwork and brickwork.
