City & Guilds Tiling Accreditation from Able Skills-Dartford, Kent, UK.
Able Skills is a City & Guilds and CAA approved training centre and is able to offer the following City & Guilds Unit Accreditation in tiling.
In order to take part in this course, you must have previous tiling experience or have attended Able Skills Intensive or Advanced tiling courses.
During this 5 day course you will be continually assessed and will be building a portfolio of photographic evidence which is yours to keep and present to potential employers or customers. It is advisable that you build on this existing portfolio as you undertake tiling projects.
Practical activities will enable the candidate to:
* Prepare floor and wall to receive tiles.
* Fix Straight edge and check for level.
* Apply adhesives.
* Fix tiles.
* Apply Grouting.
* Clean tools, equipment.
Underpinning knowledge will enable the candidate to:
* State the health & safety implications of using powdered materials and ready mixed adhesives.
* State the need for use of PPE and SSOW
* Give reasons for levels and straight edges.
* Identify types of tiles.
* Give reasons for grouting.
* Give reasons for gaps when applying tiles.
* State the need for a clean and tidy work area.
This course also includes:
* Setting out your tiling work,
* Explaining all the different adhesives used for different surfaces
* Demonstrating all the tools required.
* Cutting tiles using wet tile cutters, dry tile cutters, tile scribes, tile snips and tile saws.
* Explaining tiling involving Borders, Diamonds and Patterns
* How to cut around windows and reveals
* How to cope with tiling difficult areas such as uneven walls
* How to tile around pipes, angled ceilings and socket areas.
* How to tile splash-backs and
* How to tile around boxed in pipes.
All aspects of wall and floor tiling will be covered and both kitchen and bathroom tiling will be taught on this course.
You will work in an area equipped with a full bathroom suite so you will learn how to remove and replace sanitary ware, how to grout and polish and how to use silicone sealants.
The certificates and portfolio obtained at the end of these courses will enhance your employability status and provide you with the skills and confidence to a career in tiling.
If you are looking at a career change and want to become a full time Tiler, Able Skills also offers a 3 week tiling package incorporating a City & Guilds Unit Accreditation and 4 week tiling courses. If you are planning a career long term and are maybe considering a route to NVQ, Able Skills also offers you the opportunity to train for 6 weeks or 8 weeks. These particular tiling courses cover additional specialist tiling and other tiling related areas so that tiling for a living will come easy to you.
